Moka on Soho had the pleasure of hosting artist Adam Masava. Adam is from Nairobi and has an artist collective there: https://sites.google.com/isk.ac.ke/mukuru-art-collective/about Some of Adam's work, made from corrugated steel scraps: Adam was brought to Pittsburgh courtesy of Nanci Goldberg of Ketchup City in Sharpsburg PA. We organized for Adam to speak with some of the children of Weil school, located across from Moka on Soho. Adam brought work samples, telling the children a little about his Mukuru art collective, his family and how impactful art has been in his life. Moka on Soho is located in Pittsburgh's historic Hill District, a neighborhood with a rich cultural history which has produced a dizzying amount of luminaries across many fields. We founded Moka on Soho to transform lives through creativity and imagination. Though once a famous Pittsburgh cultural hub, the neighborhood has also been famously underserved by the city. For that reason, we decided to build Moka on Soho art gallery as a Hill District community art gallery. Since it's humble beginnings, Moka on Soho has focused on bringing people together for exhibits, cultural events and multi dimensional programs.
